Border regions often face unique security challenges — from cross-border crime to differing perceptions of safety on each side. The SAFE project set out to better understand and address these issues through cooperation, research, and community engagement.

We are pleased to present the final report of the SAFE – Security Alliance for German-Polish Endeavors project, developed in close partnership with the Brandenburg Institute for Society and Security (BIGS). Funded by the German-Polish Science Foundation, the SAFE project focused on strengthening security and cooperation along the German-Polish border.

Over the past year, PPHS worked with stakeholders from law enforcement, local administration, academia, and civil society to develop a comprehensive framework for a joint criminological regional analysis. This pioneering initiative addresses both objective crime data and the subjective feelings of safety among residents in our shared border region.

The report provides:

  • Practical recommendations for local governments and police,
  • Key findings from expert workshops in Poznań and Potsdam,
  • A framework for future cross-border crime analysis and prevention.

We invite you to download the full report and explore how this initiative can inspire deeper cooperation and more effective safety strategies in border regions.

If you’re seeking an experienced and trusted partner for border security and cross-border cooperation initiatives, get in touch with us—together, we can explore opportunities to strengthen safety and resilience along shared borders.
