“Horizon 2020 for Uniformed Services – practical aspects” was the title of the meeting organized by the Polish Platform for Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Contact Point for Research Programs of the European Union on 24-25 April 2019 in Konstancin near Warsaw.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide practical information on how uniformed services can participate in projects financed by the European Union within the Horizon 2020 program. The organizers also presented the assumptions of the new framework program for research and innovation “Horizon Europe” 2021-2027.

Also, the topics announced in the Work Program in the “Secure Societies” area for 2019 were presented, as well as the practical aspects of participation of services at the stage of preparation of applications and during performance of projects. The meeting was also an opportunity to share experiences and good practices developed in the course of performance of projects (i-LEAD, TRIVALENT, ANITA), in which Polish services are already consortium partners. This part of the meeting was very valuable for the attendees.

The organizers discussed the problem of spending of funds provided in the H2020 program by the Police and indicated possible solutions that would improve the associated processes.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Police Headquarters, over ten Regional Police Headquarters, representatives of the State Protection Service, Internal Security Agency, National Contact Point for RP EU, and the Polish Platform for Homeland Security.
