On 17-19 September 2019, the representatives of PPHS participated in workshop on prevention of terrorist attacks in public transport. The event took place in Paris within the project PREVENT.
The participants including representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), public transport operators and representatives of the local authorities, developed eight probable scenarios of terrorist attacks. Furthermore, they identified widespread technological deficiencies and weaknesses of the internal procedures regarding these risks. The identification of needs for specific solutions and technologies will enable the PREVENT project partners to prepare for an announcement and conduct of pre-commercial public procurement in the following years.
PREVENT aims to pre-empt the attacks in public transport by enabling early detection of terrorists and potentially dangerous objects. The project has received funding from the European Commission’s program Horizon 2020.
