On February 18, Dr. Marzena Kordaczuk-Was and attorney-at-law Jakub Horn presented to second grade pupils issues related to radicalization, hate speech and their legal consequences.
The following topics were discussed:
- Recognizing manifestations of radicalization, with particular emphasis on violent extremism;
- Legal aspects, including liability for hate crimes;
- Explaining the mechanism (process) of radicalization, risk factors that predispose to the use of violence (with particular emphasis on violent behavior in the family) and ways of prevention.
The students were particularly interested in Jakub Horn’s presentation and the examples he gave of criminal proceedings. Thanks to that the awareness of consequences of acts , especially seemingly anonymous ones, committed in the Internet has increased.
