On 28-30 May 2019, a workshop was held in Poznan for experts in management of security of gatherings and mass events. The event was a part of the European i-LEAD project.
On the first day of the workshop, the participants visited the Prevention Department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Poznan where a simulation of combat operations of the unit was conducted. Also, the officers of the Prevention Department presented the equipment they use during public order operations. Afterwards, the participants of the workshop saw the security management process in practice at the City Stadium in Poznan.
During the next two days, the experts met at the Regional Police Headquarters in Poznan and discussed the following topics:
- the current status of processes, equipment used by uniformed services, and shortcomings in the current solutions;
- the possibility to implement innovations in security services;
- the requirements and priorities of uniformed services related to the procedural solutions and security-enhancing equipment provided to them;
- proposals concerning the possibility to standardize selected areas in the Police.
The meeting was attended by officers from Spain, Greece, Finland, United Kingdom, Romania, Lithuania, and Poland. All the conclusions from the workshop will undergo further consultations in order to prepare information about the possibility to implement the recommended solutions.
The i-LEAD project is financed by the European Commission in the framework of the Horizon 2020 program. The Polish partners on the project are the Regional Police Headquarters in Poznan and the Polish Platform for Homeland Security.
