The fourth edition of the CINTiA conference is now behind us, once again bringing together experts from law enforcement agencies, academia and the technology sector in Krakow, Poland. At the heart of the event was the growing role of artificial intelligence, data integration and new approaches to analytical work. CINTiA has once again demonstrated how crucial cross-sector collaboration is in developing effective tools to combat crime.

The central theme of this year’s edition was innovative tools used in criminal analysis and digital intelligence. Speakers emphasised the importance of artificial intelligence, including large language models, which accelerate task automation, support anomaly detection and facilitate work with large datasets. At the same time, they highlighted the need to ensure algorithmic transparency, information security and regulatory compliance, particularly with the AI Act.

Conference participants had the opportunity to explore advanced technologies supporting operational and analytical work—from systems for image and video analysis, through geospatial tools, to solutions integrating data from blockchain, social media, public registers and financial databases. The approaches presented showed how integrated data environments significantly enhance the effectiveness of identifying connections and formulating accurate operational conclusions.

The strong technological focus in the programme did not overshadow the fundamental role of the analyst. Speakers consistently emphasised that human experience, intuition and interpretative ability are what give data the right context. An important part of the discussion also concerned cooperation between law enforcement agencies, academia and industry, including research and development projects and the Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) mechanism.

The Polish Platform for Homeland Security and the Faculty of Computer Science of the AGH University of Krakow, as organisers, would like to thank all participants for their presence, engagement and positive feedback. CINTiA has once again confirmed its role as a key space for exchanging knowledge and presenting the latest trends in criminal analysis and intelligence.
